Bergen Beach is a neighborhood of Brooklyn. The community was named for Hans Hansen Bergen, settler.

The neighborhood is a former island, connected to the mainland as part of a landfill project in 1918 Bounded by Ralph Avenue, Avenue N, Veterans Avenue, East 68th Street, Avenue Y and East Mill Basin.

Although developers bought up land here in 1925, the area did not become a popular residential neighborhood until the 1980s
