Old Mill Basin is a fairly suburban area, small, quiet, residential oasis near the middle of the borough.

Old Mill Basin is home of Canarsee Indians who are residing in this area for decades. Old Mill Basin is also inhabited by Irish, Italian, and Jewish-American immigrants. Recently the immigrants from Jamaica, Haiti, and Guyana have been moving to Old Mill Basin.

Old Mill Basin is 90 minutes from Manhattan. No subway in flatlands. Bus is the best way for transportation.
