Sea Gate

Seagate was built at the far western end of Coney Island at the southern tip of Brooklyn. It is a private, gated community containing mostly single family homes, some directly on Gravesend Bay. It is regularly patroled by the Seagate Police Department, though the New York Police Department has jurisdiction over it. The NYPD takes command when a serious incident occurs, but otherwise, stay out of the neighorhood entirely. There are approximately 7 synagogues, and one church. The old church is at the entrance to Seagate, and is no longer used for services. It is an official polling site each year at election time. There is one park, with a basketball court, skateboard ramps and children's jungle gym pieces. It is beside the Seagate Community Center, which, in recent years, has been leased to Nova Athletics. The community center is across the circle from the Seagate Beach Club. The Beach Club once had open membership for Seagate residents, but no longer does. Aside from the aformentioned establishments, Seagate consists only of personal residences and two nursing homes.
